CHARLES
(CHUCK) HAYS CHAMBERLAIN

Born to Percy and Helen (Hutton) Chamberlain on March 4, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN, suffered a stroke and died peacefully on May 27, 2010 at Hale Ho Aloha.

He joined the US Navy in 1943 during WW II, and traveled the high seas extensively as a line officer. After many decades of faithful service he retired from the Joint Chiefs Command at Camp Smith in 1967. Some of his fondest memories were of field-testing ship components to see how well they performed under normal and unusual conditions, a general attitude and talent passed on to his descendants. Not content with being inactive, he subsequently worked for the Service Bureau Corp and HMSA. He showed great courage throughout his long life.

He loved music, especially organ, and devoted his time and engineering skills to the Lutheran Church of Honolulu’s sound ministry, played the baritone with the Honolulu Community Band, and sang with various church choirs and barbershop groups.

Chuck is survived by his wife Patricia, daughter Susan J, sons Robert and William (Lois), grand-daughter Rebecca (Jean) and 3 great-grandchildren so far.

Mahalo to Queen’s Medical Center, Hale Ho Aloha, St Francis Hospice and Ultimate Cremation for their kindness and compassion.
