FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

GAY GIBSON SINGLEHURST FRASER

GAY GIBSON SINGLEHURST FRASER

Gay, who considered Hawaii her home, but lived and was socially active in San Francisco for over half of her life, peacefully passed away in her Pacific Heights home in San Francisco.

Gay grew up in Honolulu with her sister Jean, daughters of Carol and Tom Singlehurst, founders of the legendary Carol & Mary Fashion Stores.

Gay attended Punahou, the Westover School, Sarah Lawrence College and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an Art Degree.

Graduation brought her back to the islands where she traveled the world buying high end designer fashions for Carol and Mary. It was in Honolulu where she met her future husband Roy Fraser. After they were married, Roy brought Gay back to San Francisco to enjoy a 32 year marriage where they rigorously pursued active business and social endeavors. After 28 years of buying for Carol & Mary, Gay opened her own boutique; Fraser & Knowles in San Francisco.

Gay had a passion for fashion, art, animals, the 49ers, and international travel. Gay was a long time member of the Outrigger Canoe Club, Junior League, and the SPCA. She was also passionate about nationwide politics.

She is survived by her loving son Thomas G. Fraser, named after her father, his wife Betsey and her grandchildren; Gibson Fraser, fondly called "Too" and Haven Fraser, who wishes to emulate her grandmother's earlier fashion sense.

Gay's Life Celebration will be held at The Outrigger Canoe Club on Thursday, June 17th at 4:00pm.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, to The American Cancer Society are very much appreciated, as cancer is what abruptly ended her love affair with her husband Roy.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
