Deanna “Dee” Parker

DEANNA PARKER

Deanna “Dee” Parker died in Kailua on June 2 surrounded by family. She was 70. Dee lived most of her life on Oahu and the Big Island. She most recently lived in Northern California.

Over the years Dee worked in and managed hair salons at Liberty House in Ala Moana and in downtown Honolulu. She was an office manager for Mr. Ming Ltd., a dentist, a restaurant, an insurance firm and two separate trucking companies. She also worked at Straub Clinic and the former Fronk Clinic.

Dee also created and owned the former Diamond Post feed store in Keaau on the Big Island.

She moved to California for health reasons in the late 1980s, but her heart never left Hawaii and she came home often.

She is survived by her son Charles “Chuck” Parker of Kailua and his wife Patt Sornsin; her son Anthony “Tony” Parker of Mountain View, Big Island; her sister Marie Valentino of Chicago; her grandsons Wade Kekoa Mahiai Parker and Anthony Kapio Parker Jr. of the Big Island and her granddaughter Leeza-Ann Ka`ohinani Parker of the Big Island.

A celebration of Dee’s life will be held at Chuck’s home in Kailua at 4 p.m. on June 26. Casual attire. No flowers please.

65, of Honolulu passed away on June 6th, 2010 at Kaiser Hospital. He was born on May 14th, 1945 to Benjamin (deceased) and Mildred Pedro of Honolulu. A graduate of Farrington High School in 1964, he was a retired police officer with over 27 years of experience and also was retired from the Army Reserve. He was also a former employee of the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, shop 38. He was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle builder and has been riding for over 45 years. Buster is survived by mother, Mildred Keonaona Mahukona Pedro. He is also survived by his wife, Linda Kamakaokalani Pedro and his 4 sons: Michael (Rose), Kapeliela (Chantell), Kealiinahokulele (Marianne), and Kamohoalii (Harolynn), and his daughter, Shea Burmoi. 4 loving grandchildren: Jayce, Harlee, Shawnee, and Zandyn. His brothers: J. Averell Pedro and Jeffrey Maurice (Kristie) Pedro. His sisters: Bernadette Pedro and Lisa (Leyton) Pe’a. His best friend, Ben Awana and riding partner, Danny Amiya.

The memorial will be held on Saturday June 26th, 2010 at St. Louis Alumni Clubhouse at 4:30 PM- 9:30 PM. Ashes will be scattered on Sunday June 27th, 2010 at Sand Island Beach park at 2 PM. Casual attire, no flowers.

He developed his love for music where he learned to play the Trombone as well as several other instruments. This led to a life of playing for several different bands and meeting many musicians.

She was employed at Wheeler Field Air Depot, U.S. Weather Bureau; U.S. Post Office at Canton Island; and Bank of Hawaii on Wake Island and retired in 1970. She was also a member of USAFMARS; Honolulu Emblem Club 379, Excelsior Lodge #1, Rebecca Lodge #1, Chapter 1518 NARFE, Kaimuki Chapter; and Church of the Epiphany in Kaimuki.
