Born in charming Kohala, Hawaii to her mother Elizabeth Kapeka Meheula and father Richard Masato Heirakuji, Geraldine was raised humbly by her grandparents Elizabeth Kekaula Kaioa and Heloke Namakualua Mookini. She then moved to Honolulu to attend and eventually graduate from The Kamehameha School for Girls, Class of '54. Following her schooling, Geraldine taught at various educational institutions in the mainland and in Hawaii, with most of her employment at Kahuku High and Intermediate School.

Her earning of wings is celebrated by husband Chuck Meade; daughters Keala Meade-Alcuran (Dickie), Uluwehi Meade, and Hoku Meade; grandchildren Madison Leiwehiokohala and Allan Mark Kanekawaihoolanaeola; siblings Roy Heirakuji (Marge), Jean Yim Heirakuji, Rodney Cazimero (Pat), Robert Cazimero, Kanoe Cazimero Fukumitsu (Keoki), Roland Cazimero (Lauwae), Wilfred Cazimero (Comela), Wally Heirakuji (Phyllis), Clyde Heirakuji, Charles Heirakuji (Diane), Brenda Heirakuji Romero, Lionel Cazimero (Alicia), Elmer Cazimero; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
