Michael Archer Kalua, 62, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2010.

Mike was born to Issac K. and Elizabeth N. Kuhia Kalua, on December 28, 1947, in Honolulu. He was raised by his paternal aunt and uncle, Nancy K. and Henry Paia. He is survived by Margie Williams Kalua of Fayetteville, NC; daughters, Kaleiokalani and Malia; son, Michael Jr.; a brother, Dennison Kalua of Kaneohe; sisters, Jacqueline Keliihoomalu of Hauula; Nania Welch of Waimanalo; Jocelyn Frye (Bill) of Kaneohe; Nancy Kamanu of Kaneohe; and Esther Watson of Waianae; and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, and aunt and uncle, he was preceded in death by brothers, Isaac Kalua, Jr., and Patrick Kalua; sisters, Carnation Colleado; Macine Kalili; and Sweetheart Harris.

A memorial service was conducted at JFK Memorial Chapel at Ft. Bragg, NC Saturday, July 10, 2010.

Kelly Colleen Paulson Peterle, passed away on July 2, 2010 in Wichita Kansas at the age of 46. She was born in Salem, Oregon on March 16, 1964, moving to Honolulu when she was 11 years old. She attended Kamiloiki Grade School, Niu Valley Intermediate, Hawai’i School for Girls, Our Redeemer Lutheran School and graduated from Kaiser High School in 1982.

Kelly was an accomplished horsewoman and devoted mother to her four sons. She was Producer at Airborne Traffic from 1996 to 2002, during which time she presented on-air traffic reports as “Captain Kelly” on KPOI, KQMQ, and KSSK.

She is survived by husband, Dr. Donald Blasi of Wichita, Kansas; sons, John Nicholas Sutton and Zachary Alexander Sutton of Waikane, Hawai’i and Austin Peterle of Wichita, Kansas; mother and step-father, Jeannette Hereniko and Vilsoni Hereniko of Honolulu, Hawai’i; father and step-mother G. William Paulson and Jeani Paulson of Sun City West, Arizona; brother Bradley William Paulson (Jann) of Laguna Beach, California; sister, Holly Paulson Sereni (John) of Eumundi, Australia; step-brother, Bill Barnum of Bellevue, Washington; step-sisters Randi Gonzales (Abe) of Curtis Town, Hawai’i and Kelli Kuykendall Hendry (Mikael) of Healdsburg, California; and Tony Peterle of Miami Beach, Florida, who will become guardian of their son, Austin. Their son, Dylan Peterle, preceded her in death.

Lovingly known as Shi-chan, Shizu, or Suzie, of Kahaluu, went home to be with Jesus on July 4, 2010, after 84 years of loving service to her family & friends. Born in Honolulu, and retired in 1984 as secretary for St. Mary’s Episcopal Church to care for her grandkids & mother. Shizu loved the Lord, and she encouraged & inspired many with God’s love. The
joy in her smile and her caring & generous heart will be missed.

She is survived by her son, Alban Y.;daughter,Laurie R. (Leland) Lee;
grandsons, Justin & Kyle; brother, George S. Odo, nieces, nephews, grand & great-grandnieces & nephews, cousins, in-laws & godchildren.

She has joined her loving husband,
Yoshitsugu in heaven, along with her brothers, Calvin & Teruo.

ALVAN (AL) CURRIER WHEELER

Passed away June 28, 2010. Born in Portland, Maine, August 14, 1921, he attended schools in Pamona, California, Princeton University, United States Merchant Marines Cadet Corps, American Institute for Foreign Trade and Real Estate School. He sailed for various steamship companies until 1956. He was employed with Theo. H. Davies & Co., Ltd., Steamship Dept. until 1969 and then as a Marine Surveyor for his own firm and in Real Estate. For the past 20 years he was the Oahu Intergroup Office Manager where he was loved and respected with 51 years in the fellowship. Al will be greatly missed by family and many friends.

Al is survived by: Sandra Bon Akina, her son Alan (Betsy) Akina and 2 sons, her daughter Tracy (Lynn) Dillender, 3 daughters and 1 son; 1 sister Nancy Dayton, her daughter Debbie (Frank) Vecchione; Mary L. Reyen, her 4 sons and 5 grandchildren, Stephen (Patricia) Wheeler, Warren (Janeen), and Kenneth Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret, and 1 brother Warren.

A Memorial service will be held July 18th, 2 pm, Diamond Head Unity Church Chapel with a coffee hour to follow.
