MARJORIE J. SCOTT
April 21, 1929 – July 11, 2010

Marjorie J. Scott, 81, passed away on Sunday, July 11th in Phoenix, Arizona from complications of colon cancer. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 12, 1929 to Helen and Arnold Schwarz who preceded her in death. She left college in her junior year and did creative work in advertising and public relations for most of the rest of her life. In the early 1950s she traveled the larger cities of the U. S. with a reel to reel recorder taping radio advertising for the Gillette Safety Razor Company to verify their commercial’s content. She was married to Robert M. Beal and lived in Frankfurt, Germany and San Mateo County, California until they divorced in 1974. She relocated to Phoenix and worked for a company conducting real estate investment seminars and traveled extensively throughout the country for several years. She moved to Honolulu, Hawaii in the mid 1980s and was employed in advertising and later by the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association. She was fascinated with everything Hawaiian, and was instrumental with a group in founding the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame where she was a past president, and enthusiastic supporter until leaving 2004. She then returned to the Phoenix area and was employed in call centers and as an administrator for trade associations writing newsletters until March of 2009. Her hobbies included creative writing in both short stories and poetry. She attended art classes and was talented in oil painting and pencil drawing. She loved music, especially Hawaiian.

Services for Marjorie will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 22nd at Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, Cave Creek, AZ 85331. Contributions may be made to Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church, in memory of Marjorie Scott.
