78Thomas Takeji Higa, 77, of Hilo, a retired principal at Kalanianaole School, Kau High School and Pahala Elementary School and an Army veteran, died in Los Angeles. He was born in Lawai, Kauai. He is survived by wife Jean H.; son Shawn M.; daughter Alison J.; mother Masei; brothers Riosuke, Richard, Roy and George; sister Jean Anbe; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 3 p.m. Saturday at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 4 p.m. Private committal services. Casual attire. No flowers.
