Age 90, of Honolulu, passed away July 15, 2010 at Sunrise Hospital, Las Vegas, Nevada. Born May 8, 1920 in Laoag City, Philippines.

She is survived by son, Dominador (Nilda) Andres of Las Vegas; daughters, Narda (Dennis) Bumanglag, Celestina Strahle of Las Vegas; brother, Maximo Asuncion; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Visitation 6 to 9 p.m. Friday (8/13) at Mililani Downtown Mortuary, Service 7pm. Visitation also 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday (8/14) at the Mortuary, Service 12:45 p.m.
Burial 2 p.m. at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. Casual Attire. Flowers Welcome.

MARY ELIZABETH DIGMAN

“Betty”, age 95, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Lacey, WA. She was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, May 5, 1915, to Mary and Robert Humphreys, graduated cum laude in English Literature from Butler University in 1936 and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Library Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University.

Betty moved to Oahu in 1951 where she remained until 2009 when she relocated to Washington State to be closer to her surviving children. She had a life-long love of books and music which her career as librarian and avocation of singing closely reflected. An active volunteer, she served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Human Services and as St. Andrews Cathedral Music Librarian, for which she received the First Lady Outstanding Volunteer Award in 1988.

Betty leaves us a lasting impression of kindness, grace and wisdom. She is deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Betty is survived by her daughter Barbara in Olympia, WA, son John in El Paso, TX and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at St. Andrews Cathedral on Saturday, August 14: Visitation begins at 9:30 a.m.; service at 10:30 a.m. and inurnment directly following the service. Donations to: The Betty Digman Music Library Fund

She is survived by companion Agapito Carlos; son Guy Bisera; brothers Benito, Jose and Domingo; sisters Angie Vasquez, Roselani Cacal and Patricia Juario; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. VICTOR RITTENBAND

Victor Rittenband, 83, husband of the late Nancy Gustafsson, passed away last week in Honolulu, Hawaii, from cardiovascular complications. Born in Newark, New Jersey, he traveled to California where he worked for an insurance company. He was transferred to Hawaii where he met his wife Nancy, the ambassador of aloha. Their happiest moments were spent promoting Hawaiian music and hulu by performing and sharing their recordings with others. Vic also translated the Hawaiian songs into Japanese for his friends. He will be especially missed by his Spanish and Ukulele classmates of late at Waikiki Community Center. A celebration of his life will be held in November. alawaivic@aol.com
