Samuel Haanio Sr., 91, of Honalo, Hawaii, a former Honolulu firefighter, a crew chief with the federal aviation crash-fire unit on Wake Island, a coffee farmer and a retired agent with the Masons Union, AFL-CIO, died. He was born in Keauhou, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Shirlen; daughter, Sandy Manuel; sons Samuel Jr., Stephen and Stanley; brothers Oliver and Benjamin; sister Lily Kong; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Kailua-Kona. Mass: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park. Casual attire. No flowers.
