Elizabeth Hjorth Kirch died in Kailua, Hawaii on August 20, 2010 after a long illness. She was born in Cook County, Illinois on March 27, 1938. Elizabeth, (Beth), was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Bowen Hjorth of Honolulu, Hawaii, Charlottesville, Virginia and Greenwich, Connecticut. She graduated from Greenwich Academy in Greenwich, Connecticut and Saint Ann’s School in Charlottesville, Virginia. Beth attended R.P.I. in Richmond, Virginia, and later became a L.P.N. and worked as a volunteer for many years in Hawaii. Ms. Kirch is survived by a daughter, Amanda Doversola Lau in Park City, Utah and a son Stephen Douglas Doversola, in Kailua, Hawaii, four grand-daughters, two great great grand-daughters in Hawaii, a brother Peter Bowen Hjorth in Parrish Florida, several nieces, nephews and many cousins. Beth was predeceased by a brother John Thomas Hjorth, Jr. of Marina del Rey, California. A memorial service in Hawaii and in Virginia will be announced at a later date.

JAMES KEITH RODRIGUES

54 of Kaneohe, lost his battle with cancer and died peacefully at his home on August 26, 2010. Born on Kauai on April 16, 1956, he was the son of Antone and Adelaide Rodrigues. He was a 1974 graduate of Kailua High School.

He grew up surfing Kailua and the North Shore, later he was an avid fisherman and boater. He was the former owner of the Kaimoku 2. He was a plumber, maintenance man and warehouseman.

James is survived by his wife Lauren Rodrigues, his sons Ryan Cheek and Nicholas Rodrigues and daughter Lindsay Gough (Dan). He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Eileen) and Francis (Leslie) and sisters Leona Bates and Adele Stamper. He is also survived by his grandchildren Royce, Romyn and Reyah Cheek; Rylen Gonda; and Dylan, Isaiah and Brennan Gough. He joins his parents in Heaven along with his grandson Wyatt Gough.

It is only fitting that he be returned to the ocean that he so loved. Friends and family are invited to join in the celebration of his life on September 3 at Kailua Beach Park (Lanikai boat ramp side) at 10:00 am. Aloha attire.
