ALBERT C. SOUZA
ALBERT C. SOUZA Albert C. Souza, 102 years young, slipped into the hands of the Lord on September 9, 2010 in Kailua. He is survived by a daughter Shirley Fernandez (Anthony); two sons; Albert (Monica) and Gregory; sister Catherine Beatriz of Council Grove, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Al worked at Lewers & Cooke for 42 years, many of those years as a clerk in the Will Call Department. After retiring he went back to work as the Grounds Keeper at St. Patrick Church for another 20 years. He was born in Kaimuki and lived most of his life on 8th Avenue. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and softball, receiving many awards in those activities. He played golf until he was 96 years old. He was devoted to his religion and volunteered his time for many activities at St. Patrick, St. Augustine and St. James Churches. Al was the oldest Holy Name Society member at St. Patrick, being a continuest member since 1928. In 2003, the Catholic Charities of Hawaii recognized him as an Island Treasure of Hawaii. Visitation at 9:00 AM on Friday (September 17) at St. John Vianney Church, Kailua; Mass at 10:15. Private burial. Aloha attire. No flowers.
