FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

George Wm. Smith, M.D.
Diamond Head Mortuary GEORGE WM. SMITH, M.D. Passed away at his home in Hawaii Kai in the early morning hours of September 16th. He was 83 years young. Born and raised in California he loved the ocean and all it had to offer. He surfed, dove for abalone, and sailed hobie cats. Any day on the water was a good day for Georgesunny or overcast, warm or chilly. He excelled in all racket sports and was an avid tennis player with a very mean serve! George graduated from U.C. Medical School, San Francisco in 1951 and practiced medicine for over 40 years. He was in general practice for most of his career and in 1973 practiced medicine in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. On his return to California he specialized in trauma care at Saddleback Hospital in Mission Viejo. He cared for his patients with empathy, compassion and intelligence and was beloved by those he tended to as well as by his colleagues and hospital staff. Though not outwardly religious he was deeply spiritual and marveled at life in all its manifestations. He was very humble and had a gentle spirit and anyone he met considered him a dear friend. George passed without regrets and without remorse. George is survived by his beloved wife of over sixty years, Julia, his sons Christian, Douglas and Brent, granddaughters Juliana and Stephanie, grandson Karl and great grandson Nihoa. He was prede-ceased by his father Harry and mother Helen and his older brother Harry Carl Smith. His ashes will be scattered at sea off Kawaihoa. He will be missed by all.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
