77John Vandenberg Bailey, 78, of Kula, Maui, a farmer and former employee at Matson Navigation Co. and the San Francisco Chronicle, died at home. He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. He is survived by wife Gordean L., son Timothy P., daughter Maile M., brother Jib and seven grandchildren. Private services. Donations suggested to Hospice Maui.
