Makoto Nakashima, 88, of Hilo, a retired Hawaii County road inspector and Army veteran who served in World War II in Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, died at home. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by daughter Harriet Tamanaha, caregivers Justin and Joycelyn, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation: noon Sunday at Church on a Sure Foundation, Prince Kuhio Plaza. Services: 12:30 p.m.
