FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

DR. DANIEL WHANG
Mililani Downtown Mortuary (20 S. Kukui St.) DR. DANIEL WHANG Dr. Daniel Whang, 91 years old, died on Nov 28, 2010 at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in San Clemente, CA after a brief illness and surgery. His loving family members from Hawai'i, California and Colorado, who had gathered together to celebrate the Thanksgiving weekend, surrounded him at the time of his passing. Dr. Whang was born on April 6, 1919 in Honolulu, Hawaii. After graduating from McKinley High School in 1938, he attended the University of Hawaii but left in 1941 to work for several years at the Naval Shipyards at Pearl Harbor. Because he had just completed his night shift he narrowly escaped the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor on Dec 7, 1941. Dan went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska and Albany Medical School and completed his internship at Queen's Hospital. A longtime general practitioner in Wahiawa and Waialua, Dr. Whang was committed to his family and the community. As team physician for the Leilehua High School football team for a number of years, he was their number one fan. His wife, Rose, predeceases Dan. His children and their spouses, Lyn & Ed Maher, Kathy & Myles Inouye, Cindy Whang & Kristy Tochihara, and Pam & Paul Tran survive him. He was also the proud patriarch of six grandchildren and four great granddaughters. Dan was especially pleased that he was able to meet his two newest great granddaughters on his last trip to California. Private services were held in Hawaii. The family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
