Shigemitsu "Shig" Nakashima, 89, of Kaneohe, a former state public welfare administrator and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Janet, sons Gerald and Michael, daughters Karen Kimura and Ellen Nakashima, brother Richard "Yasu," six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation: 2 p.m. Sunday at Moanalua Gardens Missionary Church, 1401 Mahiole St. Celebration of life: 3 p.m. Donations may be made to Hospice Hawaii or the American Cancer Society, Hawaii Chapter.
