61 of Honolulu died on March 9, 2011. Mr. Miller was an attorney who practiced in Hawaii and California for 32 years. He was a graduate of Boalt Hall and began his career with the Wall Street firm of Hughes Hubbard & Reed, before moving on to an Asia-based practice with the firm of Marks & Murase. Mr. Miller started his own firm, Miller Tokuyama & Sur in Hawaii in 1995. He was proud to have served the Hawaii community that he loved, including successfully arguing before the Hawaii Supreme Court to limit commercial surf schools from expanding into local surf areas.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Sur, sons Bennett and Kenneth Miller, daughter Maile Miller, mother Nora Davis and sisters Ann and Helen Miller.
Scattering of ashes will occur at Tonggs surf break between 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, with an aloha party to follow at the Elks Club from 4 to 7 p.m. No flowers.
