CHIYONO KUWAYE TAKEMOTO
Age 92, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away March 18, 2011 in Honolulu. Born March 23, 1918 in Honokaa, Hawaii. Chiyono taught about 20 years at Kaala Elementary. She was a long-time member of Wahiawa United Methodist Church, Kunia Orchid Club, Hui O'Laulima, Kappa Kappa Lota, and 442 RCT, E Company Veterans Club. She actively participated in tai chi, yoga and other enrichment classes throughout retirement.
She is survived by sons, Melvin (Ruth) Takemoto, Roy (Joan) Takemoto; daughters, Joyce Takemoto, Karen Takemoto of AR; brother, Yasuo Kuwaye of Hilo; sisters, Misao Sakamoto of Palo Alto, CA, Sue Toyama of Hilo, Sachi Tanetake of Mountain View, CA; 3 grandchildren; numerous nieces & nephews.
Visitation 10:00 a.m. Saturday (April 2) at Wahiawa United Methodist Church; (1445 California Ave., Wahiawa) Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Committal Service 9:30 a.m. Monday (April 4) at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. No Koden (monetary gifts). No flowers, please.
