Marvin G. Carter, 77, of Newport Coast, Calif., formerly of Hilo, a U.S. Postal Service retiree and an Army veteran, died at home. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by daughters Lisa Carter and Susan C. Lyle, brother Albert "Paki," sister Mona Wong and a grandchild. Celebration of life: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home, Hilo. Inurnment to follow at Homelani Memorial Park.
