RICHARD LEE MAYOR (RICK)

Was the eldest of two children born to William H. and Alice M. Mayor on December 13, 1941 in Arroyo Grande, CA. He died early on Saturday morning, April 16, 2011 in Orlando, FL, losing his long struggle with cancer. He was 69 years old.

He is survived by daughter Regina Mayor of Houston, TX, (m. to Mark Tackley-Goodman), son Robert William Mayor of Half Moon Bay, CA (m. to Libby Mayor), grandchildren Catherine Kennison, Jason Tackley-Goodman, Zoe Mayor and Zachary Mayor, and sister Joene Mayor of Maui, HI. Close friends include Roxanne Koutsoulieris and her 5 adult children and grandchildren in Orlando, FL.

Rick worked in many fields, including many years as a high school science and marine biology teacher with the Hawaii Department of Education, and as a P.A.D.I. SCUBA instructor. He worked in the security field during his later life. His many hobbies included photography, CB radios, shell collecting, rock and crystal collecting, and electronic games.

Rick was a recovering alcoholic and was committed to living the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, remaining an active AA member for the last 25 plus years of his life. His AA friends made up a core part of his extended family, and he personally helped many others conquer their struggles with addiction.
