Abelardo Gragas, also known as "Al" and "Kanak," 78, of Hilo, a Bob's Drive Inn cook and an Army veteran who served during the Korean conflict, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Hakalua, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Felicia A.; sons Arthur Sr., Chade Sr. and Abelardo "Jr. Boy"; daughters Anita DeVera and Audrey Leitch; hanai daughter Sharon Fontes; brothers Robert, Tony, Raymond and Philip; sister Linda Maluenda; caregiver Dina Ward; 21 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Friday at Dodo Mortuary. Services: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Aloha attire.
