Daniel Souza "Danny" Vares, 68, of Keaau, Hawaii, a painter at D. Zelinsky & Sons of Hawaii Inc. in Honolulu and a Navy veteran, died at home. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Diane Lynn; sons Daniel Alan and Daniel Lee; daughters Selena Ann Vares, Julia Anderson, Alison Herzig and Evett Robertson; brother Robert; sisters Julie Jean Vares, Rubina Kawamoto and Bernice G. Watson; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation: 5 p.m. Wednesday at Dodo Mortuary. Celebration of life: 6 p.m. Graveside services: 9 a.m. Thursday at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
