Mistakenly born in New York City, back in Hawaii before 1 month old. Dogs and horses were her love from a very young age. Graduated Punahou School, Class of 1949. Attended Ogontz College and the University of Texas. Married George Wilson Sumner, Jr. in 1952. Three children: Elizabeth Hyde Sumner of San Antonio, Texas; George Wilson Sumner III of Honolulu and Evanita Denman Sumner (deceased). Grandsons: George Wilson Sumner IV of Denver, Colorado and Nicholas Rice Sumner of Boulder, Colorado. Lifetime member of the Daughters of Hawaii. Board member at Maunawili Farm. Private services. Memorial gifts can be made to the Friends of the University of Hawaii Cancer Center and St. Francis Hospice.
