Mistakenly born in New York City, back in Hawaii before 1 month old. Dogs and horses were her love from a very young age. Graduated Punahou School, Class of 1949. Attended Ogontz College and the University of Texas. Married George Wilson Sumner, Jr. in 1952. Three children: Elizabeth Hyde Sumner of San Antonio, Texas; George Wilson Sumner III of Honolulu and Evanita Denman Sumner (deceased). Grandsons: George Wilson Sumner IV of Denver, Colorado and Nicholas Rice Sumner of Boulder, Colorado. Lifetime member of the Daughters of Hawaii. Board member at Maunawili Farm. Private services.
