GEORGE “SCOTTY” BRAUN

Lifelong Punchbowl resident, George Braun, aka Pops and Poppi, 76, went to heaven on May 30, 2011, at home with his family by his side. He was met in heaven by his grandparents, father, brother, and dog Beauty. He was born in Honolulu on June 25, 1934, to David and Elsie (Lemes) Braun. He was a proud member of the 1952 class of Roosevelt High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard. In 1955 was employed at Hickam A.F.B. and remained there as a warehouse foreman until his retirement in 1990. In October 1957, he met the love of his life Winona Kuulei Kekona, and they were married on May 3, 1958. George was a devoted father to his 3 children and would do anything for them. He was an avid mountainball player known for his sky high pitching, and also competitively played bowling and horseshoes. He was a dedicated member of the Ancient Order of Foresters, Court Camoes #8110, where he was known for his ‘true stories’. George was most happy spending time at home with his family, telling jokes and eating sweets. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren always put the biggest smile on his face. He loved his family and always said yes to anything they asked of him.
