HATSUMI MAERTZ

90, of Pearl City, a retired librarian from Highlands Intermediate School and Pearl City Elementary School, died in Portland, Oregon. Originally from Mana, Kauai.

She is survived by four children, Lauren Vitello, Allen Maertz, Marilyn Bardai and Warburton H. Maertz, sister Betsy Sakamoto, and two grandchildren Ariel and Justin Vitello, and great-grandchild Lorelei.

She was past president of the Aiea Orchid Club Inc and the Hawaii Bromeliad Society, and active in ceramics at Leeward Community College. She is being interred at the Punchbowl National Cemetery alongside her husband Warburton A. Maertz.

A private memorial will be held this weekend.
