The Rev. Balbino Valdez Batara, 91, of Kualapuu, Molokai, a pastor at The Way of Salvation Church-Molokai and retired Del Monte Pineapple Plantation mechanic, died in the Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Badoc, Ilocos Norte, Philippines. He is survived by wife Marcela C.; sons Roger, Jose Sr., Artoro and Anselmo; daughters Linda B. Olsen and Ana Flor Batara-Villa; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 p.m. Thursday at Mililani Downtown Mortuary. Services: 7 p.m. Additional visitation: 8 a.m. June 18 at Pumehana Center, Molokai. Services: 9 a.m. Burial to follow at Kapaakea Cemetery. No flowers.
