Age 90, of Honolulu, passed away on June 6, 2011. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, he was a retired State Department of Education teacher at Noelani Elementary School and a retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. He is survived by his wife, Kazuko; daughters, Catherine (Leslie) Yoshino and Mona (Peter) Hirashima; grandchildren, Joy and Brent Umehira; sisters, Hisako “Lillian” Mau, Itsue “Sue” Yamaguchi, Matsuko (Mamoru) Muraoka, Yukie Ichikawa and Sumie Kobayashi.

She is survived by her son, Robert W Moon; daughter in law Phanphaka Moon; sisters, Marlene Lawless and Carol Beavers; and brother, Jim Mitchell. She was born in Peoria, Illinois, on January 3, 1924. She was a retired Law Office Manager with many old friends from Southern California and many new friends in Hawaii. She moved to Honolulu 3.5 years ago to live with her son and daughter in-law after her husband passed away. Her smiling face will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation 1 p.m. Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Waipahu Ward; Service 3 p.m. Interment at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California at a later date.
