John Shigeyuki Tanaka, 88, of the Kohala Coast, Hawaii, an entrepreneur, inventor and author, and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Kaiser Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Amy Y., sons Dwight and Dean, daughters Dian Tanaka Whitson and Deborah Tanaka-Tanner, and three grandchildren. Private services.
