Stella Michiko Gotanda, 87, passed away on July 25, 2011 in Kailua.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Vern and Xinh Gotanda, and by two brothers, Takeshi Matsuda and Robert (Nancy) Matsuda.

“Sweet Lorraine”, 77, also known as “Simmie” and “Lulu from Honolulu”, touched many lives with her aloha and a passion for life. Born in Honolulu, she retired from Waikiki Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Minute Chef Restaurant. She passed away on July 8, 2011 at Kaiser Foundation Hospital.

Loea Hula Charles Kauhi Ka’upu, Jr., son of the late Charles K. Ka’upu, Sr. and Esther Nagai Ka’upu, age 53, of Palolo, O’ahu passed away at his home in Napili, Maui, and went to be with our Lord on July 12, 2011. Born in Honolulu on October 21, 1957. Hawaiian Cultural Expert, Master Chanter, Lecturer, Recording Artist, Licensed Kahu.

Survived by sisters Julie Ka’upu, Tomi (Paul) Mamuad, Kamalanai (Michael) Clarke, A. Ke’ala Ka’upu, Keahi Ka’upu; nephews Christopher (Ka’ala) Mamuad, Justin (Joreen) Mamuad, Tom (Billie) Mamuad; mo’opuna Kalaokahaku,Kau’ika’alohika’anapaokalani, Ka’imi’ike, Kaleiimilia, Kamaha’o, Keli’iho’omalu; and numerous Ka’upu, Nagai, Mokiao, Boyd, Mau, Higa, Kama, Castor, Ka’upu-Dudoit ‘ohana.

Harold Meyer, Jr., 76, a retired Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Planner & Estimator-Electrician and Navy veteran, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2011 at his home. Born on July 7, 1935 in Honolulu.

He was the son of the late Harold Meyer, Sr. of Waianae and Jennie (Akeo) Meyer of Honolulu. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Chung Won (“Wonnie”), brothers Jacob and Daniel Sr, sister Sarah L. Teixeira, nephews, nieces and in-laws.

As Interior Communications Electrician 1st Class onboard the USS Sargo (SSN 583), Harold planted the Hawaiian flag at the North Pole on February 9, 1960.

Visitation: 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4th at Hosoi Garden Mortuary. Service: 12 noon. Interment: 3 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Aloha attire requested. Age 89, passed away July 20, 2011. Born Dec. 18, 1921 in Pearl City, HI.

He lived his life as an amateur boxer; a soldier in the U.S. Army; a small store owner in Seattle, WA; a merchant marine; and finally as a machinist at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. He was a long time member of the Old Timers Boxing Club of Honolulu and taught Tai Chi breathing exercises to seniors at Ala Moana Park.

He is survived by sisters Judy Chin & Lil Ako; brother Norman Mow; sons Daniel & David (Theresa) Mow; daughters Evelyn (Glen) Kotomori & Wini Farrell; grandchildren Benton, Shane, Justin, & Sheldon; and great grandchildren Chase, Bryson, Rylan, & Shayli.

Services to be held at Borthwick Mortuary on Thursday, Aug. 4th, from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with burial to follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park.

Doris S. K. Morishita, 79, of Kaneohe, Hawaii died Monday, July 18, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Pomona, California. She was born February 25, 1932 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was retired from Chaminade University of Honolulu where she worked in the Personnel department. She had also retired from Waikiki Realty-Kahala, Honolulu, Hawaii. She is survived by her husband, Yasuyuki Morishita; daughter, Teresa Morishita of Pomona, California; brothers, Bill (Betsy) Lum of Honolulu, Hawaii, Robert (Frances) Lum of Portland, Oregon, and Edward (Margaretha) Lum of Honolulu, Hawaii; sisters, Lillian Loo of Wasilla, Alaska and Gladys Wayas of Honolulu, Hawaii; and numerous nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father, Anthony Hung Lun Lum; mother, Mew Yong Au Lum; and sister, Frances Chang.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 5:00-9:00 pm at Borthwick Mortuary with rosary service at 6:30 pm. Visitation and funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 9:00 am with mass at 10:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church-Kalihi, 640 Puuhale Road, Honolulu, Hawaii. Age 96, of Kaneohe, Hawaii, passed away on July 7, 2011 at home. He was born on December 20, 1914 in Honouliuli (Ewa), Hawaii, and lived in Kakaako, Liliha and Kaneohe. He retired from the DOE in 1976.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mildred Yukiko, and son, Kenneth Yukio (Harriet). He is survived by sons, Nils (Barbara) and Lance (Jessie); daughters, Judy (Earl) Fujii and Mamie (Ernest) Luke; sister, Edna Kiyoko Tomita, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
