William “Pete†Gabriel, 91, of Hilo, a retired state Department of Transportation Highways Division equipment operator III, an Army veteran who served in World War II and a Pearl Harbor attack survivor, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Paauilo, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Bernice, daughters Gabriella Cabanas and Glenda Sugi, brothers Antone and Joaquin, sisters Geraldine and Helen, and three grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2.
