BARBARA M. HORTON, RN
Virginia Beach- Barbara M. Horton, RN, 64 of Virginia Beach, VA passed away on August 17, 2011 at home after a year and a half battle against cancer. Born December 5, 1946 in Ocala, FL where she graduated from Ocala High School in 1964. She lived in Pearl City, Hawaii from 1970 to 1983 before moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia. Her career as a nurse included working with kidney dialysis patients for more than 27 years. Loving Mother to Ira Horton (Tanya), Parksley, VA and Wendy Goings (Kenneth), Morgantown, West VA. She was a wonderful Grandmother to Angelique and Mya Horton. Survived by one brother Robert Cordrey (Cheryl), Colorado Springs, CO and five sisters Lavetta Brooks and Mildred Van Fleet (Bruce), both of Ocala, FL and Laura Rich and Julia Davis (Richard) both of Silver Springs, FL and Doris Ross, Nashville, TN and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Ernest Cordrey, Christine Cordrey Beedle and her step-father Ralph W. Beedle and one sister Sandra Skeen. Memorial Service will be held at Kings Grant Baptist Church, 873 Little Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Pastor Stanley "Skip" Wallace will be officiating. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make contributions to the Salvation Army Area Command, P. O. Box 388, Norfolk, VA 23501 or your local Salvation Army.
