Adrian “Muffy” Perry Ohlmeyer

Posted On September 9th, 2011 -

ADRIAN “MUFFY” PERRY OHLMEYER

Loving friend, sister, daughter, and mother passed away on September 4th 2011. Full of love, compassion, and aloha spirit, she sought only to light the lives of those around her. The hands-on support she provided to Los Angeles charity Caring for Babies with AIDS helped build two homes dedicated to improving the lives of afflicted children. In particular, Muffy was instrumental in garnering support from key corporations like Disney, Warner Bros, and NBC to finance and decorate the homes, even convincing Disney to create a life sized mural of the Little Mermaid.

Muffy was initially raised in Australia and Washington D.C. before her father, Rear Admiral
Adrian Perry, settled in Honolulu. She graduated from Punahou School and University of Hawaii.

In 1978, she married Don Ohlmeyer, with whom she spent many years in Los Angeles, New York, and Hawaii.

Her greatest joy was her son, Kemper. A baseball, football, and hockey mom, she never missed a chance to watch him compete. Recently, she was thrilled at his engagement to the “Lovely Lisa” Purcelli.

After returning to Honolulu in 2002, her charitable spirit endured. She hosted an annual event, Christmas in the Country, to support abused women and children. Most recently, she focused her attention on Palolo Elementary School. Each year she would rent a fleet of luxury buses for ‘adventures’ and ensure that each student received a Christmas gift they “wanted, not needed.”

More than anything, she was known for her great parties. Her “New Years Eve Day” luncheon and “Easter Parade” were legendary amongst her dearest friends.

She will be missed by son Kemper, Mother Mrs Adrian Perry (Betty), sister Liz, friend Michelle, and extended ‘ohana Chaitanya, Laurie, Kiele, Noah, Drew, Chris, Todd.
