Angel Gandiza Asuncion, 87, of Wahiawa, a retired painter with the Painters Union Local No. 1971, an ‘Iolani School retiree and an Army veteran, died in Wahiawa. He was born in Koloa, Kauai. He is survived by sons Edward, Benjamin, David, Clayton and Kalani Asuncion, and Angel “Dodong” Sarong; daughters Lynette Retuta, Rosalie Auna, Angel G. and Helena F. Asuncion, Shirley Crawley and Myra Cantrell; brother George G. Mique; 28 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 6 p.m. Wednesday at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, mauka chapel. Services: 7 p.m. Additional visitation: 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 1403-A California Ave., Wahiawa. Mass: 11 a.m. Burial: 12:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park. Casual and aloha attire. Flowers welcome.
