James Edward Young, 89, of Kailua, a Chevron Shipping retiree and a Navy veteran who served in World War II, died in Honolulu. He was born in Healdsburg, Calif. He is survived by wife Joyce; son Richard; daughter Patti Cook; stepbrothers William, Benjamin and Thomas McCutchan; hanai brother David Harmeson; and three grandchildren. Celebration of life: 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Christ Church Uniting, 1300 Kailua Road. Scattering of ashes at sea at a later date.
