MCCORMACK, THOMAS J.
60, died in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 11, 2011.
Born in Providence, he was the loving son of Joseph L. McCormack of South Kingstown and the late Marguerite (McGorty) McCormack.
He was a 1968 graduate of Classical High School and a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Boston. He attended Brown University graduate school where he was a nominee for the Untermeyer Fellowship in Poetry.
Tom resided in Hawaii for many years. He served on the Oahu Service Area Board on Mental Health and Substance Abuse. Tom was a former member of Hale O Honolulu Clubhouse. While living in Hawaii, Tom pursued a life-long interest in literature.
In addition to his father, Tom is survived by his brothers and sisters, Maureen Theodore of Wakefield, Terrence McCormack of North Kingstown, Kathleen Greco of Saunderstown, and Brian McCormack, of Sterling, VA; his step-mother, Frances McCormack; and step-sisters Patricia D'Aloisio, and Kathleen Zarchin. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to Hale O Honolulu Clubhouse, 1700 Lanakila Avenue Honolulu, HI 96817 will be appreciated.
