Kathryn Huitt Rosendahl
KATHRYN HUITT ROSENDAHL May 10, 1950- November 12, 2011 Kathryn Huitt Rosendahl was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on May 10, 1950 to Frances (Abernethy) Huitt and Dr. John Dempsey Huitt. Kathryn passed peacefully to life everlasting on November 12, 2011 at home surrounded by family after her struggle with a rare cancer disease. When Kathryn was four years old, her family moved to Oahu, Hawaii. She was the oldest of five children and grew up as a "Kailua Girl", where she graduated from Kailua High School in 1968. Kathryn then attended Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972. Kathryn reflected the warmth and beauty of the Islands in her daily life. She was known for her warm smile and honesty. She was generous, kind and gracious and was full of love and happiness. Kathryn placed others before herself and had joyous, spiritual values to always do what was right to help others. Kathryn had a wonderful gift for hospitality and was comfortable planning events and preparing elegant dinners for friends. She loved to travel extensively and preferred tropical, warm weather, water views and sandy beaches, where her favorite destinations were Hawaii (Kailua, Oahu and Kona) and Positano, Italy. On her trips home, Kathryn would love to start each morning with a walk around the Lanikai loop. A special part of every day was to walk along the surf at Kailua Beach. Trips home would also include time with family and friends, a hike to the Pill Boxes, shaved ice at Island Snow, and dinner at Buzz's. Kathryn lived her passion and remained active and enjoyed playing golf, swimming and competed in eleven marathons. Kathryn enjoyed a long career in real estate, most recently as an agent with Realty Trust Group in Lake Oswego and, prior to that as a general contractor where she designed and built high quality homes. She was talented and hard working and her success came from her perspective, thoughtfulness and fairness toward others. Kathryn supported and volunteered for many organizations including Friends of the Children, Parry Center, Our Lady of the Lake Parish and School, Jesuit High School and Junior League.
