PHYLLIS DIANE MALER
PHYLLIS DIANE MALER March 7, 1935 - November 3, 2011 Phyllis Diane Maler, of Longmont, died November 3, 2011 in Longmont, Colorado. She was 76 years old. Phyllis was born on March 7, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Herman and Lillian (Lazaroff) Schneider. Phyllis lived most of her life in Honolulu, Hawaii with her husband Ned and daughters Eve and Beth. In Honolulu she became an entrepreneur with The Trunk, the first large-sized women's specialty clothing store in the state, in 1971. Phyllis moved to Longmont in 2001 to be near Beth and her family, in the process becoming a Mah Jongg enthusiast. From her leadership of the Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood in Hawaii to her volunteer work at the Longmont Senior Center, she formed strong lifelong friendships, contributed to the community, and inspired fierce loyalty from all who met her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ned Joe Maler. Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Eve Maler and Beth Ferreira, and two grandsons, Jacob and Joe Ferkatch. A memorial service was held on Monday, November 7 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont. A memorial gathering will also be held in Hawaii at 5:30pm on Sunday, December 4.
