Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, age 63. Raised by his uncle & auntie, Edward and Louisa Dela Cruz of Kaneohe. He attended James B. Castle High School. He served in the US Army Armed Forces. As a retired Roofer living on Kauai, where Elia enjoyed his fishing. Survived by daughters Lauralin, Leititia Dela Cruz, Lianalouise Hiongson; son Louis Dela Cruz; 10 Grand-children; 2 Great-grand-children; brothers Edward, Donald, Timothy Shepherd; sisters Lani Weaver, Lorna Dela Cruz, Sharon Shepherd, Leimomi Jones; hanai brothers John, Jonathan Kauhako, Elliot, Warren, Daniel, Isaac, James, Michael Dela Cruz; hanai sisters Eloise Makua, Eleanor Dela Cruz, Enola Talbert.
Honor Service at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Committal Shelter on Friday December 9th, 2011 at 11:00 am. The Memorial Service to follow at the home of Edward & Louisa Dela Cruz. His Ashes will be scattered on Kauai, January 3, 2012.
