James H. Ripple Sr., 84, of Aiea, a retired engineer and U.S. Department of Commerce economic development specialist, died in Hawaii Medical Center-West. He was born in Ohio. He is survived wife the Rev. Barbara G.; sons Jim Jr. and William F.P.; daughters Susan R. Whitney and Sally R. Dugan; hanai son Arthur B. Camacho; stepsons Jerry and Ken Allison and Mike and Brady Post; stepdaughters Tammie Leary and Teri Seiverson; brother Thomas; sister Emmajean R. Netzly; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous hanai children and grandchildren. Celebration of life: 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Church of the Crossroads UCC, 1212 University Ave. Interment: 3 p.m. Thursday at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Aloha attire.
