Don A. Alvarez, 73, of Ewa Beach, a retired Honolulu Police Department officer and a Navy veteran, died in Honolulu. He was born in Ballesteros, Cagayan, Philippines. He is survived by companion Chulet Paco; sons Anthony, Daniel, David and Dean; hanai son Alan Clemente; hanai daughters Daisy Lui-Kwan and Krystle Knowles; brothers Argenio and Benedict; sisters Gregoria Mallabo, Gloria Alvarez, Dita Pacis and Nimfa Sta. Ana; and five grandchildren. Visitation: 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, mauka chapel. Services: 6:15 p.m. Additional visitation: 9:30 a.m. Monday at the mortuary. Services: 10:30 a.m. Committal services: 2 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe.
