Kenneth Arthur “Calf” Makekau, 77, of Volcano, Hawaii, a retired General Electric Co. quality control worker and a former merchant sailor, died in Hilo. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Carol; sons Kenneth Jr., Alwood and Edward; daughter Gaylynn Witt; sisters Barbara Kaapuni and Violet Gomes; stepbrother Donald Keawe; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 10 a.m. Cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary. Casual attire. No flowers.
