HEATHER T. BYRNE
HEATHER T. BYRNE Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on November 6, 1923 to Beatrice and Samuel Todd. Passed away peacefully in the home that she loved on Christmas Day with her daughters by her side. Heather grew up in Honolulu, and attended Sacred Hearts Academy of Honolulu, Class of' 1940 and the University of Hawaii, Class of 1944. She taught on the island of Lanai for two years after receiving her teaching degree. In 1946, Heather traveled to the mainland where she met and married her beloved Bill Byrne. They were married for 62 years before his death in 2009. Heather loved to travel, and to spend time at her home in Maui. She and Bill enjoyed many trips and cruises during which they met fellow travelers who became life-long friends. She loved flowers and plants, and found much joy and peace in her garden. She created bonsai and was a longtime member of Millbrae Bonsai Class and Sei Boku Bonsai Kai. She was a member of Lahaina Yacht Club. Heather was a generous giver. She had a gentle spirit and was a loving friend and support to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, her two sisters Rachel Todd and Marjorie Todd, as well as many friends. She is survived by her daughters Pat Byrne and Kathy Byrne, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Mary Alice Byrne, nephews John Byrne and Will Byrne and their families, niece Bernadette Byrne, several godchildren and many close friends. In addition, we are thankful for and indebted to her wonderful caregivers Nalisce, Neill, Ruby, Daisy, Carol and Jean, who became part of our family. We are grateful to her amazing Care Resource staff scheduler Ida, to her fitness friend, Kim and to Pathways Hospice for their care during her last weeks. Friends and family are invited to a visitation Saturday, December 31, 2011, 10:15AM at St. Dunstan Church 1133 Broadway, Millbrae, CA followed by the Rosary at 10:45AM and the Funeral Mass at 11:00AM.
