FRANCES HARUE AZUMI

Frances Harue Azumi passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospice West on December 28, 2011.

She is survived by son, Clayton (Linda) Azumi, daughter, Kyle (Stephen) Tajima, grandchildren Rhiannon (Randy) Guevara, Brooke Azumi, Dain Azumi, Chase Tajima and Skyler Tajima. She is also survived by great-grandson, Caden Guevara, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frances is predeceased by her husband, Harry Ichiro Azumi, and eldest daughter, Nadine “Miki” Hultz, of Garland, Texas who passed away after a long battle with cancer on July 31, 2011.

Memorial services will be held at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on Friday, January 6, 2011 at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in the name of The Azumi Family.

Age 91, of Waipahu, Hawaii, passed away December 8, 2011 in Waianae. Born February 26, 1920 in San Juan, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte Philippines. An active member of Filipino United Church of Christ Waipahu.

She is survived by sons, Hernando (Josephine) Castillo, Ruben (Mila) Castillo of Philippines, Noel (Antonette) Castillo, Peter (Chita) Castillo; daughters, Helen (Paterno) Cajandab, Evangelina (Peter) Santiago of NY, Truinie (Ernesto) Mendoza of IL; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grand-children; brother, Tranquilino (Daisy) Dalija of Philippines; sisters, Florencia (Florendo) Pinera of Philippines, Consulacion (Ismael) Castillo of Philippines.

Age 84, of Waianae, Hawaii, passed away December 18, 2011 in Waianae. Born November 30, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Member of the Teamsters Union, Local 996. A Gomes School Bus Driver, Kaneohe in the 80’s.

He is survived by sons, Joseph (Pua) Irvine, Raymond (Sophia) Irvine, Robert Irvine, Brian (Sheri) Irvine; daughters, Druearilyn (Stanton) Kauhane, Danalyn (Uele) Sialega, Elaine (Dion) Brown; sisters, Geraldine “Earl” (Herman) Costa, Anabel “Mokihana” Ramos; hanai brother, John (Veronica) Agoan; 32 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

ALYCE LEE KIM

Alyce Lee Kim, beloved wife of departed Attorney and Sports writer, William ‘Bill’ Kim, died peacefully in her sleep on Christmas day .

Born in 1925 to Bong Soon and Yung Soo Lee in Hakalau on the Big Island, Alyce Oak Soon Lee graduated from McKinley on Oahu, and worked as a teller at Bishop Nat’l Bank. There she met Bill Kim, a young boxing promoter, and sports writer. They married at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace in 1945.

In 1965, her beloved Bill died prematurely, and Alyce began a 20+ year career at United Airlines. She was a member of the Korean University Club, and a devout parishioner of St. Stephen’s church. Blessed with a flair for fashion and admired for her beauty, Alyce loved to travel, and enjoyed classical music, the ballet, and Korean TV soap operas.

Alyce, a devoted mother of 3 children, Willyce, William, and Carmel, is survived by her sister, Grace Kukonu, and her brother, Charles Lee. Private services.

GEORGE HIDEO SAITO

Age 68, raised in Waipahu, Hawaii, passed away on Dec. 24, 2011. George was the beloved husband of Patricia, father of Richard and Akemi, brother to Neal and Eleanor. His funeral service was held on 12/29 in CA. Burial service will be held on 1/9 @ 9am at Hawaiian Memorial.

Age 91, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away December 23, 2011 in Waipahu. Born August 19, 1920 in Hilo, Hawaii. Aiko was a member of Kaimuki Christian Church. She also played the organ at church and for weddings.

She is survived by son, Robin (Linda) Yamada; daughters, Aileen (Ron Rigor) Yamauchi, Myra (Clarence) Sato; sister, Ella (Yoshikazu) Mizuguchi; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation 3:00 p.m. Saturday (January 7) at Kaimuki Christian Church; (1117 Koko Head Ave., Honolulu) Memorial Service 4:00 p.m. Casual Attire. No flowers, please.
