Surrounded by the love of family and friends since February 18, 1949, peacefully passed on February 15. Survived by husband Owen, daughter Shanna, son Michael, and brother Gary Piatelli.

Gifted hairstylist of Salon Vega. Avid tennis player and member of the Kailua Racquet Club. American Cancer Society volunteer.

She gracefully survived breast cancer in 1983.

Of Lahaina, Maui passed away on January 26, 2012 at Hale Makua, Kahului Maui under the warming care of Hospice Maui. He is survived by his father Wilford R., brother Kent M. and hanai brother Randy Villanueva.

The 2nd child, Cliff was born January 17, 1955 in Honolulu, O’ahu to Wilford Randolph.and Fay Kaonohiokala Whittle Ahue; first son Keith (Linda) Whittle Ahue & 3rd son Kent Miller Ahue. A graduate from Kamehameha Schools and University of Hawai’I Manoa.

On Maui he worked for Tihati Productions and Kumu Hula of Halau Hula Na Maile Ku Honua. Having dedicated his life to dance and culture he overwhelmingly gave his many gifts to organizations, companies, events, venues, boards, communities, to name a few.

WILLIAM ARMAND AKANA
1922 – 2012

William Armand “AK” Akana, Kailua, Oahu, passed away peacefully at Hospice Hawaii, Kailua House, on January 25, 2012, surrounded by family and friends as he went to be with the Lord.

Mr. Akana was born in Honolulu. He joined the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was retired from the Navy Exchange, spending time in Taiwan and Rota, Spain.

AK’s real passion, however, was music. For a number of years he belonged to the Gleeman Plus Choir. He also spent many evenings singing with the Tahitian Lanai group, led by pianist Ron Miyashiro, which most recently gathered at La Mariana.

He is survived by sisters Leona Crabbe and Elizabeth Chong and daughter Sandra (Norman) Lau, all of Honolulu, and by four step-daughters, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

A graveside service honoring Mr. Akana’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Hawaii State Veteran’s Cemetery, Kaneohe, Hawaii. The Akana family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Akana’s name be made to Hospice Hawaii.
