79John Deniz Jr., 97, of Honaunau, Hawaii, a retired state custodian, died at home. He was born in Kona. He is survived by son Rickie, daughter Betty Lou Deniz-Leslie, brothers Henry and Walter, sister Mae Gomes, 12 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 56 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Honaunau. Mass: 11 a.m. Urn burial to follow at the church cemetery. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
