Richard Harry Pedro Benevides, 67, of Glenwood, Hawaii, a retired longshoreman at Hilo Harbor for HT&T, commercial fisherman and a Navy veteran who served in the Vietnam War, died in Kaiser Medical Center. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by wife Cherie; sons Richard, Jacob Sr., Jack, Julian and Gabriel; daughter Darla Eblacas; hanai sons Chai Pope, Sione and Stepson Kaholo, and Ikaika Souza-Kamakea; brother Abel Jr.; sister Barbara De Luz; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation: 4 p.m. Thursday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Ponahawai Chapel, Ponahawai Street. Services: 6 p.m. Burial: 1:42 p.m. March 3 at the family residence, 18-4097 N. Glenwood Road, Mountain View, Hawaii.
