Allen Kawelo Yapp, also known as “Butch” and “Brown,” 73, of Hilo, a retired Hawaiian Dredging Co. heavy machine operator, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Christine; son StaceyKekaualua; daughters Thailiana Denise Aipolani, Karen Ortiz and Autumn Aipolani-Soares; brothers George, Walterand Dennis “Apua”Keamo and Sidney Young; sisters Emily “Lup” Mamane,Inchon Keamo, Johanna “E.D.” Fernandez, Allie “Babes” Lopes, Maile Schuwer and Matilda “Ui”Kahoonei; hanai brother Arthur “Iso” Isoshima; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation:6 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Christian Fellowship, 840 Kupulau Road, Hilo. Services:7 p.m. Additional visitation:9 a.m. Friday at the church. Services:11 a.m. Burial:1 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park. Luncheon to follow. Casual attire.
