in Seattle. Born Sept. 23, 1955
in Honolulu, Hawaii. Joanne was a longtime employee of Matson Navigation. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

MICHAEL BLASKO

Michael lost his battle with cancer on March 9 2012. He was a Vietnam veteran, belonged to the Am. Legion, and was Chaplain for the V.F.W. Post 849,which he was honored to be.He was very passionate about animals, and animal rights that he and his wife Patti, founded the first Non-Kill animal shelter named K-9 Rescue in 1985.His love for animals was great,but his love for his wife Patti and family was greater, he will be missed tremondesly by her and his cousins Debbie Etter and her family and Larry Leibowitz and his family and all of the friends that knew him.

Viewing is 1 to 1:15 at Moanalua Mortuary on March 20. Gravesite services will be at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe also on March 20, at 2:00. Aloha wear welcome. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to K-9 Rescue P.O. Box 1602 Waiane 96792.

TOSHIO “TATA” FUJIMOTO

Toshio “Tata” Fujimoto died peacefully at home under hospice care on February 25th. He was 91 years old. Tata was born in Kahului to Matsuyo and Toshito Fujimoto. He had three sisters, Etsuko (Mitsuo) Goda, Okoto (George) Toyama and Emiko (Yasuo) Okinaka, as well as four half siblings, Louise, Nobue, Miriam and Yukata.
Tata and his wife, Tomiko, were married for 69 years and lived their entire lives on Maui. He is survived by his wife, daughters Gail Fujimoto and April Fujimoto (Edward Franklin, Jr.), and his daughter-in-law Joyce Fujimoto who was married to his son, Terry, who predeceased him last year. He is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Tata attended Kahului School, graduated from Maui High School, and worked at The Maui Pine Cannery for 49 years. He was involved with the Maui Federal Credit Union, holding numerous offices, including Chairman of the Board for a record 34 consecutive years. He was awarded the Hawaii Credit Union League Volunteer of the Year in 1994 and was designated as the first Director Emeritus upon his retirement after 60 years of service.
Baseball was Tata’s abiding passion. He pitched for the Japanese of American Ancestry League. He and a small group within the Maui Kiwanis Club started the Maui Little League Association based on the philosophy that no child should be deprived from playing baseball for financial reasons. In 2002, he was honored with the dedication of the War Memorial Little League Field #2. His love of baseball extended to building a baseball bat fence for his home.
He served on the Hale Mahaolu board for many years and was the Cub Scout Master at Kahului Union Church for 10 years. Tata’s other interests included photography, classical music, reading, gardening and travel. He spent many summers taking his grandchildren to Europe, Japan, Alaska, Canada and the East Coast. He dedicated his life to the belief of “giving back to the community”.
Services will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Friday March 30th at 5:00pm with visiting to begin at 4:00pm. The family requests no flowers.
