73James Michael Thompson, 70, of Laie, a retired San Francisco Fire Department firefighter, died in Honolulu. He was born in California. He is survived by wife Vaiolini-Ipolani; sons Matthew, Vernon and Clinton; daughters Kelley Miranda and Jill Thompson; brother John; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Laie Stake Center. Services: 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Laie Cemetery.
