Robert Donald Mendiola Sr., 88, of Kurtistown, Hawaii, a retired Honolulu Police Department lieutenant, Securitas security officer at Hilo Airport and an Army veteran who served in World War II, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by wife Annie; sons Eric, Damien, Clyde, David and Charles; daughters Judy Lane, Penny Tada and Debora Inciong; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Rosary: 7:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo. Visitation: 8 a.m. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial: 11:30 a.m. at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.
